Heart of a Muslimah

The Heart of a Muslimah project is a collaboration between House of Fiza and CWF. The project seeks to collect gently used abayas and kurthas and to redistribute them to Muslim men, women and children in need. By offering these garments to those who may not have the financial means to purchase new ones, we aim to promote dignity, modesty, and a sense of belonging within our community. Our goal is to ensure that every person can have access to beautiful, modest clothing, regardless of their financial situation.

Since its launch on the 11 June 2013, the Heart of A Muslimah project has been committed to:

  • Collection Drives: Hosting annual abaaya and kurtha drives across the country.
  • Clean and Refurbish: All collected items are carefully packaged ensuring they are in excellent condition before redistribution.
  • Distribution Events: Organizing events where women and families can come and select clothing at no cost. We also work with local mosques, community centers, and shelters to reach individuals who may benefit from these donations.
  • Ongoing Partnerships: Building partnerships with local businesses and organizations to continue collecting and distributing modest wear, especially during high-demand periods such as Eid and Ramadan.

Impact:

  • Thousands of abaayas, kurthas, scarves and burqahs have been distributed to men, women and children in need since the project began.
  • Communities have been directly impacted by receiving free garments, allowing them to celebrate religious occasions, attend community events, and feel confident and dignified.
  • The project has reduced the financial burden on families who may struggle to afford new clothing, especially during significant occasions.
  • Community Solidarity: The initiative has brought together members of the community to donate, volunteer, and support one another in times of need.
